A Ranch Style or A Mansion
What are you drawing to yourself? By your thoughts and actions, you create an expectancy. What are you inviting into your life? Allow yourself a time each day when you do not have to go anywhere. Be with yourself. Open to the gifts within you that don't have a price tag, which don't require planning, pushing or sorting. Open to the gifts that nourish you by paying attention to them.

Building My Mansion

I personally feel that I am building a mansion when it comes to my body, mind and spirit. I do not think small or simple. So if you are most interested in the easy way, the flat ranch style consciousness then do not bother to read on. If you are pro-active in regards to your body, mind and spirit then by all means read on, dialogue with me and send me your comments.
My internal space, what I think about, is my responsibility. I use that in a very technical way, i.e., my "response"-"ability". If I have a depressing thought I have to ask the question, "Is this fear real?" "Do I want to hang out with these feelings of fear, lack, depression?" Do I want to create my health and well being from this base? Spiritual advisors warn us that 17 seconds of a thought, especially when combined with feeling creates our reality! Set your timer and be aware! This is why a current awareness coach, featured on Good Morning America, is urging people to take a few 1 minute breaks each day to check in with their heart. For what are you yearning? What feelings do you want to engender within your heart? Warm and secure? Strong and vital? Just think and feel, viola! The chemistry is set up in your body instantly.
Awareness is when we begin to judge our thoughts and feelings from a deeper dimension. Every great master tells us that all knowledge and peace are within ourSelves. Some are better than others at describing how to discover this Haven within ourselves. Jon Kabat Zin in his book, Wherever you go, There you are! assists us in a very practical manner. The practice of observing our thoughts, "mindfulness" or "witness consciousness" is our route into that peace and knowing. Meditation, awareness of the breath, inspirational reading are each activities that lead us down the road of Self-awareness. I must trust that I have this depth, that I can cultivate this awareness.
I am here to say that you are the "husband" of your self-awareness. You may think it odd that I would use the word "husband". The American Heritage College Dictionary defines husband as "a manager or steward." Husbandry is defined as "the act or practice of cultivating" and "careful manangement or conservation of resources." These definitions speak to the ancient art of caring for, of preserving health and well being. By practicing mindfulness you are building your Mansion.
You may not be the architect of your mansion but you surely are the keeper of the mansion. Who would that be if not you? There is so much being written and talked about in the media regarding this subject. Books such as The Power of Now by Elkhart Tolle and The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav extol ones ability to become aware of "just this moment". Each of these authors, in their own way speak to the necessity of practicing the non- violence inherent in this process not just to create a better world, but in fact to ensure that our world will continue. You think, "Heavy responsibility". In fact it is, yet by becoming aware of the moment, one becomes more aware, gentler, more non-violent even with oneself.
Be gentle with yourself. Follow the breath into the recesses of your heart. Try this: Imagine a stream of light descending from above in a gentle yet steady flow. Imagine a chalice at the center crown of your head filling with this light. As it over flows, it fills a bowl between your eyebrows with the same liquid light. This clears your mind, relaxes your eyebrows and soothes your eyes. Next a bowl at your throat is filled, softening your throat, your jaw and your neck muscles. It continues to flow into your heart. Here it pools and is absorbed into the chamber of your heart. It relaxes and soothes you in a very profound and deep manner. It spills into the bowl at your Solar Plexus warming you. It attracts like a magnet the energy and warmth of the Sun. It spills into the space below your navel, the seat of your creativity, pleasure, and sexuality. Here it deeply nourishes you. It strengthens your purpose and the awareness of your unique gifts. Next it reaches your pelvic floor anchoring you to the earth, to that which is grounded, centered, strong and powerful. Feel this one stream of light moving through you, balancing, aligning your energy in just the most perfect blend for you today, at this time in your life. Enjoy your instrument. Enjoy the life force that circulates through you. Be at peace!
